This #GivingTuesday, it is important to remember the profound work that Women Who Code is doing. By supporting women in tech careers, we are working towards changing the face of tech and transforming the world for good. That has an impact on the individual, community, industry, and global level.

Software engineers earn nearly double the average salary, and yet women only hold 25% of computing roles. In the US alone, that means that there are nearly one million women that we support in being and becoming leaders in tech. If we can help them earn just 20% more, we’ll be adding $3 billion to the economy each year. In our community, this is significantly impactful because women reinvest 90% of their earnings back into their communities.

In a recent Women Who Code poll, we found that 78% of respondents reported that women and people from marginalized communities are more impacted by job reductions due to COVID-19. This is reinforced by a study conducted by researchers at Northwestern University, the University of Mannheim in Germany, and the University of California, San Diego.

When you support Women Who Code you are changing the lives of not just engineers, but everyone around them. As more women rise in tech careers, the future of innovation gains a wider perspective, the economy is bolstered, and families gain vital support that they need.

On this #GivingTuesday, remember the true and broad impact of Women Who Code.
